Meet Us
Sobremesa is Charlie and Claudio Cabana. We met working in a coffee shop in 2017 and have been cooking and eating together ever since. Our menus are inspired by Claudio’s seaside Venezuelan upbringing and Charlie’s west coast Canadian roots. Sobremesa utilizes Claudio’s background in bartending and Charlie’s lifelong love affair with the kitchen – both personally and professionally. In addition to our dinner series, Claudio works as a carpenter and Charlie works as a copywriter.

What is ‘Sobremesa’?
While sobremesa literally means "over the table," the meaning in the Spanish vernacular is far more beautiful. The sobremesa is that time spent after a meal, digesting and lingering, where satiated appetites lead to relaxed conversation, story-telling, debate, and idle thoughts.
